Trail Rides

At On Course Equestrian, we offer year-round trail rides through the Susquehanna State Park. Our barn is located at 575 Craigs Corner Road, Havre de Grace, MD 21078 and has access to Susquehanna State Park trails via our private property trails.

Please be aware of the following information when planning a trail ride:

Price for a trail ride:rsz_fieldgallop

Our trail rides are $35 per person.

We can accommodate a limited number of people on a trail ride: depending on the sizes of riders attending. Please disclose how many people you plan to bring and their ages when scheduling a trail ride with us! Please note: trail rides must be scheduled at least two weeks in advance.

The group of riders should expect to be involved with the horses for approximately two hours. You will gain the knowledge and experience of preparing the horse for the trails, a safety overview of riding in our large outdoor arena, the trail ride itself, and cleaning up the horses. We believe riders should know their horse on the ground before they know their horse in the saddle.

Weather Precautions:

Be advised that a trail ride may be canceled due to rain the day before your trail ride is scheduled. Muddy trails are dangerous to ride on and your trail ride will need to be rescheduled. Rescheduling may also occur due to >100° or freezing temperatures. We appreciate all flexibility that surrounds planning a trail ride.

What do I bring?

  • Close-toed shoes and a weather appropriate outfit.
  • Long pants are recommended due to branches and thorn bushes along the trails.
  • We will provide you with helmets.
  • Water bottles and snacks for your whole group.
  • Our riding release form MUST be downloaded and turned in before a trail ride can commence. The release form can be found here:

Additional Information:

Our trail rides are lead by our riding instructors as well as a few of our advanced students. These students are tested in their familiarity with our herd, their knowledge of all the trails, and our safety practices.

Please be aware: our horses do have a weight limit. Unfortunately, anyone weighing >200lbs cannot attend a trail ride. We do not presently own any horses large enough to fill that clientele gap. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes and appreciate your understanding.

Interested in a trail ride? Please note: trail rides must be scheduled at least two weeks in advance. Please fill out the form below to send us an email. We look forward to hearing from you about scheduling a trail ride with us!
